Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Personal protective equipment, or "PPE", is equipment that is used to reduce exposure to hazards that may cause serious injury or illnesses. When CPR is being performed, PPE typically refers to the rescuer's gloves and face shield with a one-way valve.
Other examples of personal protective equipment include:

- safety glasses
- shoes
- earplugs or muffs
- hard hats
- respirators
- coveralls
- vests
- full body suits
